Mission and Service
First Church is dedicated to living a Missional Church life. Our Deacons lead us as we seek to reach out to others with the love of Jesus Christ, to love our neighbors as ourselves and to pass on that love through relationship, service and meeting the physical need of our brothers and sisters in the church, community and world. The Board of Deacons focuses on God’s call to mission and service through three ministries: Hospitality, Hands On Mission and Mission Funding. Currently the Deacons participate with the Walk for Warmth and for Grace Centers of Hope.
In addition, each week the Community Outreach team gathers for prayer, giving time for discernment of how God is calling us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, word and deed. During the course of the year, we support many local, national and global mission opportunities.
These include but are not limited to a community Vacation Bible School, local Easter Egg Hunt, Transportation to Sunday worship services, Summer Camp kits, stocked backpacks, a free community Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas food baskets and gifts, Free health screenings & the Centro Multicultural La Familia collaboration. We also support wider mission in the world through the PC(USA).
